What the State of Florida says about MSI.

MedSpa Institute operates under two active Florida Commission of Independent Education licenses, one per campus, and is a registered FL DBPR Facial Specialist training provider. Below is every regulator we answer to, with verification links to their public databases.

Two campuses. Two licenses. Both verifiable.

MSI is licensed by the Florida Commission of Independent Education (FL CIE) — the state body that regulates non-public post-secondary education institutions in Florida. We hold a separate license for each campus. Both are active. Both are publicly verifiable through the FL Department of Education.

FL DBPR · Approved Training Provider

Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation

MSI is registered with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) as an approved training provider for the Facial / Skin Care Specialist license pathway. This is the registration that lets MSI graduates obtain their Florida state license without sitting a separate state practical exam — the curriculum is pre-approved at the institutional level.

National Accreditation · In Progress

We are pursuing NACCAS accreditation.

The National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences (NACCAS) is the leading accrediting body for cosmetology, esthetics, and barbering schools in the United States. NACCAS accreditation establishes a school as nationally recognized, enables Title IV federal student-aid eligibility for future students, and validates curriculum and operational standards against industry-leading peers.

Where we are in the process: application submitted; under initial review. We update this page each time we move to a new stage of the review. We do not claim NACCAS accreditation until and unless it is granted.

Your path to a Florida State Esthetician License.

Because our program is approved by FL CIE and FL DBPR, MSI graduates do not sit a state practical exam. Here's exactly what the licensing path looks like.

  1. Step 1

    Complete the Program

Finish all 220 hours of the Hybrid Facial / Skin Care Specialist Program — 149 hours of online theory at your own pace plus 71 hours of hands-on practical training at the Miami or Tampa campus.

  2. Step 2

    Receive Your MSI Certificate

On successful completion, MSI issues a Certificate of Completion and your final transcript with verified clock hours, signed by the registrar. Both documents are FL DBPR–compliant.

  3. Step 3

    Submit Your DBPR Application

Submit Form DBPR COSMO 5 (Initial Facial Specialist Registration) to the FL Board of Cosmetology with your MSI Certificate of Completion, proof of identity, and the FL DBPR application fee. MSI's admissions team will sit with you on a video call and walk you through the form if you'd like.

  4. Step 4

    Receive Your FL License

Because MSI's program is pre-approved by FL CIE, no state exam is required. Once your DBPR application is approved (typically 2–4 weeks), you receive your Florida State Esthetician registration. You can begin practicing legally the day the license is issued.

Continuing education requirements

Florida estheticians must complete 16 hours of continuing education every 2 years to maintain an active license. MSI offers FL DBPR–approved CE courses through our continuing-education catalog. Alumni receive priority registration and locked-in pricing for the first year after graduation.

Reciprocity for out-of-state graduates

Florida grants reciprocity to esthetics-program graduates from states with substantially similar licensing requirements. We help you assemble the packet, send transcripts in the FL-compliant format, and navigate the DBPR endorsement process from start to finish.

Federal Financial Aid · Disclosure

MSI is not yet a Title IV institution.

MedSpa Institute is not currently a Title IV–eligible school. Federal student aid (FAFSA, Pell Grant, federal student loans) is not available for MSI tuition today. Title IV eligibility is a downstream benefit of NACCAS accreditation, which we are actively pursuing.

In the meantime, MSI is an approved provider for MyCAA (military spouse), VR&E (veteran vocational rehabilitation), Tuition Assistance (active-duty), and CareerSource Florida workforce reimbursement. Most employer reimbursement programs are also accepted. Our in-house payment plan offers $1,500 down and $135/month with 0% APR for the first 12 months.
