If you're searching for schools for medical esthetician training in Florida, you're looking at a career in advanced skin care—working with clients on treatments like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser hair removal, and clinical-grade facials. Medical estheticians (also called medical aestheticians) work in medical spas, dermatology offices, plastic surgery practices, and wellness clinics, supporting physicians and performing procedures that go beyond day-spa services.
In Florida, the credential you need is the Facial / Skin Care Specialist registration. There is no separate "medical esthetician" license in the state—the training and credential are the same whether you plan to work in a medical setting or a traditional spa. What matters is choosing a school that prepares you for the clinical environment and the hands-on skills you'll use every day.
What You'll Learn in a Medical Esthetician Program
A quality medical esthetician school teaches you the science and the practice. You'll study:
- Skin anatomy and physiology — how skin works, what goes wrong, and why treatments help
- Sanitation and safety — infection control, sterilization, and client safety protocols critical in medical settings
- Advanced treatments — chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, LED therapy, and post-procedure care
- Product chemistry — active ingredients, pH, formulation, and how to choose and layer products
- Client assessment — skin analysis, contraindications, and working within a treatment plan
- Hands-on practice — real techniques on real skin, so you graduate confident and ready
The goal is simple: you walk out able to perform treatments safely, communicate clearly with clients and supervising physicians, and adapt to the tools and protocols of a medical practice.
MedSpa Institute: Hybrid Training in Miami and Tampa
MedSpa Institute has been training estheticians in Florida since 2003. We offer a 220-hour Hybrid Facial / Skin Care Specialist Program—149 hours online and 71 hours in person—so you can study the theory on your schedule and build hands-on skills at one of our two campuses.
Two Florida Campuses
- Miami: 3250 NE 1st Ave, Suite 504, Miami, FL 33137
- Tampa: 11351 Countryway Blvd, Tampa, FL 33626
Both campuses offer the same curriculum, the same hands-on training, and the same support. Choose the location that works for your life.
How the Hybrid Format Works
149 hours online: Watch lectures, complete assignments, and study skin science, sanitation, treatment protocols, and product knowledge from anywhere. Move at your own pace through the online modules.
71 hours in person: Come to campus for hands-on practice. You'll perform facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, waxing, and other treatments under instructor supervision, working with real clients in a real clinical setting.
The hybrid model gives you flexibility without sacrificing the tactile skills that matter most in this field.
Tuition, Financing, and How to Enroll
Tuition: $6,000 all-in, which includes $5,000 tuition, $100 registration, and $900 for your kit and books. Everything you need to complete the program is covered.
Financing: We offer in-house financing with $1,500 down and payments from $135 per month, with zero percent interest for the first 12 months. Affirm financing is also available.
Enrollment: Open enrollment means you can apply anytime. It's free to apply, and no payment is required to enroll. New classes begin every two months.
